Timothy B Schmit Reveals "Red Dirt Road" Off his New Leap of Faith Album

TIMOTHY B. SCHMIT--groundbreaking vocalist, songwriter and bass player from the legendary rock groups Eagles and Poco--has teamed up with Rolling Stone Country to premiere his new song "Red Dirt Road". Listen here;

The song is from his new solo album Leap Of Faith, that released Friday, September 23 on Benowen Records on music CD.

Recorded at his Los Angeles studio and co-produced with engineer Hank Linderman, Leap Of Faith is a strong mix of rock, country, Americana, R&B and even a bit of reggae. Leap Of Faith marks the culmination of Schmit’s unhurried, yet inspired reflections of life.

Okkervil River's New "Away" album, LISTEN !

NPR Music is now streaming Okkervil River’s new album Away in full via First Listen – LISTEN HERE. NPR says of the album, “Away is a rebuilding-yourself-from-the-ground-up kind of record… Sheff uses the occasion to take his time and let his songs breathe.”

"For the Love of Brahms", out 9/30 from Joshua Bell and Steven Isserlis

Violinist Joshua Bell and cellist Steven Isserlis are joined by two acclaimed musical forces - pianist Jeremy Denk and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, of which Bell is Music Director - in a landmark joint recording, For the Love of Brahms (Sony Classical). Available September 30, 2016, the new album is a unique project that features works of Brahms and Schumann that Bell calls "music about love and friendship."

A personal, deeply affectionate impulse frequently sparked the music of Johannes Brahms and his mentor, Robert Schumann – often including their mutual friend, the violinist and composer Joseph Joachim. It clearly drove all three works on For the Love of Brahms.

Bell, Isserlis and Denk unite here in Brahms's first published chamber work, the Piano Trio in B Major, Op. 8 in its rarely performed original 1854 version. Isserlis also joins Bell - as violin soloist and director - and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in Brahms's last orchestral work, the celebrated Double Concerto (for Violin and Cello) in A Minor, Op. 102. Bell, Isserlis and members of the Academy also offer the first recording of an unusual coupling: the slow movement of Schumann's rarely heard Violin Concerto, in a version for string orchestra made by Benjamin Britten, who also added a short coda.

Kicks OST out on September 9

Uni's Back Lot Music will release the soundtrack album for Focus World's Kicks – the debut feature film from director Justin Tipping – on September 9, it was announced Friday on Billboard.com. The Kicks Original Motion Picture Soundtrack features artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Mac Dre, RJD2, Charles Bradley, Iamsu!, Marc E. Bassy and Brian Reitzell. The soundtrack will release day and date with the film's theatrical release on September 9 on CD. A vinyl version of the album is planned for release later this year.

The music of the film Kicks acts almost as another lead character in Tipping's urban coming-of-age tale set in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was important to have the film be reflective of a place and time, and local Bay Area artists like Mac Dre, Iamsu!, Roach Gigz, Dave Steezy and NanosauR help to do just that. Almost every song heard in the film is available as part of the soundtrack album. It also boasts songs that you can't get anywhere else from NanosauR, Jay Casio & Brian Reitzell.

The songs in the movie are held together by composer Reitzell's pulsating score, which often acts as the music bed for some of lead actor Jahking Guillory's poignant moments of spoken rap. Creating his own unique method of scoring films, Reitzell draws equally from his experience as a recording and touring musician. His vision for this film score was to create a seamless landscape of songs, score and source music. It also helps that Reitzell himself is from the East Bay area, where the film takes place. "I have always wanted to score a film based there," says Reitzell. "Justin [Tipping] captured the look and feel of the place in such a real way. It was a very natural process for me because I felt so connected to it. The people, the streets, BART trains, the music… it's under my skin."

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ new studio album, Skeleton Tree, Out September 9

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ sixteenth studio album Skeleton Tree will be released globally on vinyl, CD on September 9, 2016.

Skeleton Tree will be launched with screenings around the world of One More Time With Feeling, a unique feature film about the making of the album. A must-see in 3D, tickets for September 8 launch screenings of One More Time With Feeling are said to be going very quickly.

Small Bill$, from Regina Spektor, off of her New "Remember Us to Life"- Listen

In celebration of Regina Spektor’s seventh album Remember Us To Life, out September 30 on Sire/Warner Bros. Records, Stereogum premiered the track “Small Bill$”. check it out above from Baker & taylor. They noted “it’s a deep-grooving, bass driven banger with Spektor singing intricate cadences that border on rapping. She laces vivid, alluring tales over hard-hitting drums and quick violin flourishes before easing up on the hook with infectious, melodic la-la’s. Her control of temperament on this track is excellent.”

Ms Spektor is also set for a limited run of North American tour dates surrounding the release, beginning in Los Angeles on September 29. Tickets for all shows went on sale Friday, August 19, with the exception of a special show at Rough Trade NYC for which tickets are only available via a special lottery system accessible via the tour listing at ReginaSpektor.com. Stranger Things - Original Netflix Series Soundtrack Releasing on Two Volumes

Lakeshore Records will release the STRANGER THINGS - Original Netflix Series Soundtrack in two parts. Volume One releases on CD September 16th, with Volume Two releasing on CD September 23, 2016. Both volumes feature the original score by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, members of the popular Austin experimental synth band S U R V I V E.

“The directors were previously fans of S U R V I V E. They used a song from our first LP in a trailer they made to pitch their concept to Netflix. Once the show was picked up, they reached out to see if we were available to score the show,” Dixon stated. Stein added, “We discussed having a classic tone and feel to the music for the show but being reserved enough that it wasn't ’80s cheese, while offering a refreshing quality so that felt modern. This was one of the qualities that drew them to our music in the first place. Having a familiarity with classic synths worked, but with an overall forward thinking approach.”

STRANGER THINGS is the breakout Netflix original series set in 1983 Indiana where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl. A love letter to the ’80s supernatural classics that captivated a generation, STRANGER THINGS stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Matthew Modine, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton.

Okkevil River RIP video- watch/listen

Okkervil River kicked off a series of underplays last month, in Portland, ME on July 14th. They played a sold out show at National Sawdust in NYC on July 20th, followed by a world tour upon the albums release in September.

Stranger Things Original Score to Release in Two parts on CD

Regina Spektor Announces "Remember Us to Life" album

Regina Spektor returns with her seventh album Remember Us To Life out September 30 on Sire/Warner Bros. Records.

The new LP marks Spektor’s first outing since 2012’s What We Saw From The Cheap Seats, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Album Chart and her Grammy-nominated theme song “You’ve Got Time” for the hit Netflix show Orange Is The New Black. Recently it was announced that Spektor has recorded George Harrison’s classic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” for the animated film Kubo and The Two Strings, to be released on August 19th.

Remember Us To Life is composed entirely of all new songs recently written by Spektor, a change from past albums when she would record songs written throughout her career. Spektor gave birth to her first child in 2014 and she spent considerable time writing during and after her pregnancy. Says Spektor “I made more art and felt more inspired than I had in a long time.”

Spektor recorded with producer Leo Abrahams (David Byrne/Brian Eno, Frightened Rabbit, Paolo Nutini) in Los Angeles at The Village Studios. Says Spektor of Abrahams, “he is such a kind and talented musician. And person! I felt very grateful to work with him.”

In September, TIMOTHY will head to Nashville for the Americana Music Festival & Conference. On Wednesday, September 21 he’ll be on-hand to present at the Americana Music Awards show at Ryman Auditorium. The following night, he’ll perform a live concert during “Music City Roots” at Factory at Franklin which will be live-streamed on Thursday, September 22. The show will be broadcast nationally on PBS TV at a later date andother show performers include Willie Watson, Sean Watkins as well as Wynonna & The Big Noise. Then on Sunday, September 25, TIMOTHY and his band will perform a one-night-only concert at City Winery in Nashville (609 Lafayette Street). Tickets for the City Winery show will go on-sale starting Thursday, August 11.

LEAP OF FAITH marks the culmination of SCHMIT’s unhurried, yet inspired reflections of life. On his new albumhe goes further up the path he began to explore on his 2009 solo album Expando. “Again, I wanted to write this album on my own.” TIMOTHY further explains,”In any collaboration one has to make a series of compromises. That’s not a bad thing, it’s simply not what I’ve chosen to do with this project. I’m just putting it out there, and maybe some of these ideas might resonate with listeners.”

Illuminated by an array of fine musicians and singers, LEAP OF FAITH plays like a multicolored corona around SCHMIT’s distinctive artistry. From the jaunty opening track “My Hat” to the soaring harmonies and heartfelt reflections of “This Waltz,” this is more than another album in a great artist’s catalog.

Often writing and recording between touring with the EAGLES, this project took a little time, so the songs on LEAP OF FAITH seem to have a broad compass. “Slow Down” is a note to self on escaping life’s pressures coasting along on a reggae pulse sweetened by jazz giant Gary Burton’s vibraphone. “What I Should Do” has a Muscle Shoals feel; steamy, funky, and sensual. On, “Goodbye, My Love,” he takes us deep down into traditional country with Paul Franklin’s glistening steel guitar layered over the changes. And on “It’s Alright,” his most intimate song, SCHMIT needs only his own acoustic guitar to express profound love.

Listten- Head and the Heart's new single- "Library Magic"

Today, The Head and the Heart reveal the second single from their forthcoming album Signs Of Light. "Library Magic" was released recently. "Library Magic" is the follow up to the previously released single, "All We Ever Knew," which debuted last month and is already in the top 5 at AAA, and #18 this week on the #Alternative chart. Signs of Light will be released on September 9th via Warner Bros. Records.

"Library Magic," which was written by band member Charity Thielen, could almost be seen as a letter to the other five members, acknowledging the ups-and-downs of life in a successful band while celebrating the unique and constantly evolving bond between them. "I wrote that song after having our first real time off as a band," she says. "It touches on the storied relationships between band members trying to survive living in a van off of accelerated time and gas station crafts for years straight, but it also applies to any of life's relationships."

Very excited to share our song, Library Magic, with you! It is very special to us and touches on the important reminder for the quotidien, "there will always be better days."

Nina Simone Documentary to get September dvd, bd, cd release!

Nominated for the Academy Award for Best #Documentary at the 2016 Oscars, Best Music Film at the 2016 Grammy Awards, and winning Best Documentary at the American Film Institute Awards in 2016, documentary film What Happened, Miss Simone? connected with critics and fans alike with its deep examination of the legendary Nina Simone. What Happened, Miss Simone? is the story of Nina Simone’s life and career. Through archive interview and extensive performance footage, alongside new interviews with family, friends and colleagues, the film paints a fascinating portrait of this complex and challenging artist.

Nina Simone was many things: pianist, singer, songwriter, performer, civil rights campaigner, wife and mother, victim of abuse, and black icon. Growing up in the segregated American South, she began to learn piano at age 4, attended the Juilliard School Of Music in New York and aspired to a career as a concert pianist. Thwarted in this, allegedly because of her color, she began to play in nightclubs to earn money and her career as a jazz and blues performer was born. The film follows Nina Simone through the sixties and her intense involvement in the civil rights movement, her decision to relocate to first Africa and then Europe in the early seventies, her emotional difficulties in the eighties, and her later years in France in the nineties.

KT Tunstall Readies KIN Release for September 9

KT Tunstall returns with an explosive 11 track collection of songs on her fifth studio album KIN to be released September 9th on Caroline Records. Two years ago, KT Tunstall thought she was done with music: "As an artist I feel like I died," she says. "I stopped. I gave up. I didn't want to do it anymore." She put her stuff in storage and bought a little house in Venice Beach, California
and enrolled in the Sundance Institute's elite Film Composers Lab. It was a turning point in her life.

Two years later KIN was born. Produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Fitz and the Tantrums, Air, M83 and more), and written and recorded by KT in LA, it exemplifies the very best of guitar pop. "The truth is, I've finally made peace with being a pop songwriter," KT says. "This record was very much embracing my dharma as an artist, which is to write positive songs that have muscle, but also show their vulnerability."

It has been over ten years since KT released her multi-platinum debut, Eye To The Telescope, and in KIN, KT sees its full bodied and blooded follow up. The album's new focused sound is exemplified by the teaser track 'Evil Eye'; a stripped back, primal rock 'n' roll track that seeded the whole record. Shawn Mendes to Release "Illuminate" on September 23

Singer-songwriter and multi-platinum recording artist Shawn Mendes’ highly-anticipated sophomore album, Illuminate, will be released September 23rd via Island Records. The album, featuring current hit single “Treat You Better,” will be available for pre-order soon.
