Sony Classical proudly announces the release of The Magnificent Seven (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), featuring music by James Horner and Simon Franglen. The soundtrack was made available on CD format on September 16th 2016. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures' and Columbia Pictures' in association with LStar Capital and Village Roadshow Pictures' upcoming film The Magnificent Seven will arrive in theatres nationwide on Friday, September 23rd 2016.
Having composed the music for more than 130 film and television productions, including dozens of the most memorable and successful films of the past three decades, James Horner was one of the world's most prolific and celebrated film composers. Horner earned two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards for his music for James Cameron's Titanic (Best Original Score and the Best Original Song "My Heart Will Go On"), eight Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe nominations, and won six Grammy awards. Known for his stylistic diversity, his film credits included Titanic (the largest selling instrumental score album in history, having sold more than 27 million copies worldwide), Avatar, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Braveheart, Legends of the Fall, Glory, Field of Dreams and Star Treks II and III. The Magnificent Seven was Horner's final film project.
Grammy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated Simon Franglen is a composer most recognized for his collaborations on the scores for four of the top grossing films of all time. He worked on the multiple award-winning James Cameron films Avatar and Titanic and the critically acclaimed James Bond thrillers Skyfall and Spectre. Franglen also contributed music to the score for Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, premiering at the 2016 Venice Film Festival. In addition to composing music for film, Simon has over four hundred music credits working with pop, classical, and R&B artists, such as Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Celine Dion, Luciano Pavarotti and Madonna. Franglen was also commissioned to compose a sky-breaking, 3-dimensional immersive symphonic suite for the Shanghai Tower, which is the tallest building in Asia. Simon has an impressive career, working with Hollywood's most renowned composers, including John Barry, Howard Shore, Thomas Newman, Alan Silvestri, and most notably James Horner. Franglen and Horner had a very close working relationship, having collaborated on major films such as Titanic, Avatar, The Amazing Spider-Man, Karate Kid and Southpaw. Simon won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year for the smash hit "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic, and received Golden Globe, Grammy Award and World Soundtrack Award nominations for co-writing and producing the theme song "I See You" from Avatar. Franglen is a visiting professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Simon resides in England and Los Angeles.

TriStar to Develop The Phantom Tollbooth Film
the tracking-board reports that The Three Misfortunes of Gepetto scribe Michael
Vukadinovich has been signed on to write a fresh take on the beloved children’s
classic THE
PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH for Sony's Tristar Pictures. The book, first published in 1961,
was written by Norton Juster and illustrated by Jules Feiffer.
The book tells the story of a bored young boy named Milo who unexpectedly received a magic tollbooth one afternoon and, having nothing better to do, decides to drive through it in his toy car. The tollbooth transports him to a land called the Kingdom of Wisdom, where he acquires two faithful companions, has many adventures, and goes on a quest to rescue the princesses of the kingdom from a castle in the air.
Donald De Line is producing through his De Line Pictures with Ed McDonnell of Maple Shade Films. Nicole Brown is the studio exec for Tristar.
The project has been in development for several years with various producers and only recently moved to Tristar from Warner Bros., where Gary Ross was previously attached to direct a script from Watchmen scribe Alex Tse. It’s no wonder that attempts to adapt the book to the big screen endure, as fans and critics alike favorably compare it to A Wrinkle in Time, Alice in Wonderland, and The Wizard of Oz.
Vukadinovich, who landed on the 2011 Hit
List and Black
List with his spec The Three Misfortunes of Gepetto and later made
his way to the 2014
Young & Hungry List, seems like an appropriate choice to adapt the book.
He recently tackled drafts of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride for Disney and
the The Wind and the Willows remake starring Ricky Gervais. He is
currently adapting Matthew Quick’s YA novel Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock
for Channing Tatum and TWC.

Foreign Exchange Rates Increase Sony Pictures Q1 Loss
Home Media Magazine reports that the strong theatrical performance of The Angry Birds Movie wasn’t enough to offset foreign currency fluctuation as Sony Pictures saw a first-quarter (ended June 30) operating loss of $98 million, compared with an operating loss of $96.4 million during the previous-year period. Revenue increased to $1.69 billion, from $1.41 billion.
“The main reason for the operating results ‘improvement’ was a decrease in the Japanese-yen based operating loss amount resulting from the appreciation of the yen against the U.S. dollar,” Sony Corp. CFO Kenichiro Yoshida said in a presentation.
Indeed, Sony revised downward fiscal-year forecasts for sales and operating income due to the appreciation of the yen against the U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures said revenue from media networks, which includes television and digital networks worldwide, increased primarily due to higher advertising in India and Latin America.
Angry Birds has generated $344.4 million at the global box office, including $106.7 million domestically. The movie was released digitally July 29 and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Aug. 16.

TRUTH OST Arriving December 6
Varèse
Sarabande will release the TRUTH – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
on CD
December 4, 2015. The album features original
music by composer Brian Tyler (AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, IRON MAN 3), whose
12-year relationship with the label includes the soundtracks for numerous films
including BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, CHILDREN OF DUNE, CONSTANTINE, FAST FIVE, INTO
THE STORM, and ANNAPOLIS.
“TRUTH is an exploration of the often fragile and tense relationship between journalism and politics and the humanity of pursuing the truth,” explained Tyler. The film is based on Mary Mapes' memoir Truth and Duty: The Press, the President, and the Privilege of Power detailing the 2004 CBS 60 Minutes report investigating the military service of then-President George W. Bush – a report which would ultimately cost her and anchor Dan Rather their careers. “The music strives to explore the tones of the newsroom, the politics of war, power, and the personal side of these elements.”
Brian Tyler is a composer and conductor of over 70 films and recently won Film Composer of the Year at the 2014 Cue Awards. Tyler composed blockbuster hits AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, FURIOUS 7, IRON MAN 3, as well as THOR: THE DARK WORLD. He conducted the London Philharmonic at Abbey Road Studios for both films. He also scored EAGLE EYE for producer Steven Spielberg, and the box office hits FAST FIVE and FAST & FURIOUS for director Justin Lin. Pixels Soundtrack Releasing on July 24 on CD
PIXELS Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will release on CD July 24, 2015. The album features the original music composed by Henry Jackman (BIG HERO 6, CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER). “I think everyone involved with this movie has a great love for the great summer action-comedies of the 1980s,” said Executive Producer Michael Barnathan. “We definitely wanted a movie
for today’s audiences, but our goal was also to capture something of the feel that made those movies so special – that mix of action and comedy that the movies of that era did so well.”
“It feels like it could have been made in the 80s,” said Jackman, who chose not to score Pixels comedically because, “the comedy in the film speaks for itself.” Henry Jackman worked with a 40-voice choir, live percussion with five players, and a full orchestra of 75 members to create the Pixels score.
The film’s composer Henry Jackman grew up in the southeast of England, where he began composing his first symphony at the age of six. He studied classical music at Oxford and sang in the St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir. Henry quickly got involved in the underground rave scene and began producing popular electronica music and dance remixes, eventually working with artists such as Seal and The Art of Noise. Jackman has established himself as one of today’s top composers by fusing his classical training and his experience as successful record producer and creator of electronic music. His musical versatility ratcheted up the tension in Paul Greengrass’ Captain Phillips (earning him a BAFTA nomination). Henry super-powered comic book hits such as X-Men: First Class and Captain America: Winter Soldier and breathed life into legendary animated characters like Winnie the Pooh, Puss in Boots and new classics like Wreck-It Ralph and Oscar-winner Big Hero 6. Other Henry Jackman films include Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kick-Ass.

Dracula, Mavis, Jonathan and all of their monster friends are back in the brand new comedy adventure: when the old-old-old-fashioned vampire Vlad arrives at the hotel for an impromptu family get-together, Hotel Transylvania is in for a comic collision of supernatural old-school and modern day cool.
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 is slated for a September 25, 2015 release (DVD, BD release date tbd), and is being directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, produced by Michelle Murdocca, executive-produced by Sandler, Allen Covert, and Ben Waisbren, and written by Robert Smigel.
Brooks, who takes on the role 40 years after helming the horror-comedy classic Young Frankenstein, said, "I’m having a wonderful time with the character Vlad. He’s been around for eons and he’s a pretty crabby guy. Basically, he reminds me of me."
Brooks isn’t the only icon who will be voicing Vlad, as Sony Pictures Releasing International is securing the talents of additional high-profile stars around the world to voice the ancient one for the non-English versions of the film. So far, these regional Vlads include: France’s Michel Galabru, the esteemed 92-year-old actor who has appeared in more than 200 films; Japan’s Junji Inagawa, whose voice is instantly recognizable as the "go to" narrator of horror films, radio programs and DVDs; Holland’s Bram Van Der Vlugt, who, for decades, was the most requested Dutch TV/film "Sinterklaas" (Saint Nicholas); and Belgium’s Jacques Vermeire, the well-known Flemish performer with decades of memorable comic television and feature film performances.
