The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, to Publish Autobiography on September 27

Simon & Schuster has announced the world-wide publication of  music legend Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography, Born to Run, which will be released internationally on September 27, 2016. The work will be published in hardcover, ebook, and audio editions by Simon & Schuster in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India, and rights have already been sold to publishers in nine other countries.

The NJ rocker, Springsteen, has been privately writing the autobiography over the past seven years. He started work in 2009, after performing with the E Street Band at the Super Bowl’s halftime show.

In Born to Run, Mr. Springsteen describes growing up in Freehold, New Jersey amid the “poetry, danger, and darkness” that fueled his imagination. He vividly recounts his relentless drive to become a musician, his early days as a bar band king in Asbury Park, NJ and the rise of the E Street Band. With disarming candor, its said he tells for the first time the story of the personal struggles that inspired his best work, and shows us why the song “Born to Run” reveals more than we previously realized.

Carly Simon's New Memoir Gets "Songs from the Trees" Musical Companion CD Release

Just days before Carly Simon’s long-awaited memoir, Boys in the Trees, arrives, Rhino will release the book’s musical companion, SONGS FROM THE TREES (A MUSICAL MEMOIR COLLECTION).

In the two disc CD collection’s liner notes, the acclaimed singer/songwriter explains the music’s connection to her book: “This is a special album that serves as an additional way to look at my stories. Most of these songs are precursors to what eventually became the book...If you feel like playing this puzzle, there are clues of how to cross-reference the songs with the chapters, pages and words.”

With 31 tracks spread across two disc, the compilation spans a great deal of the award-winning artist’s stellar career, from her musical debut as half of The Simon Sisters performing folk songs with her sister Lucy in Greenwich Village, to her meteoric solo career, which yielded 13 top 40 hits, including the #1 song “You’re So Vain.”

So, the seven-time Grammy Award winner, currently recuperating from emergency back surgery, has agreed to tell his life story “warts and all” while the release of remastered versions of his first two solo albums is delayed due to health issues.

The as-yet-untitled book will be published in October 2016 by Penguin Random House owned Crown Archetype in the USA.

Crown Archetype editorial director Tricia Boczkowski said that the “unflinchingly honest” memoir would reveal “a Phil Collins that not many people know.”
