Universl Pictures Home Entertainment Announces 4K Releases

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) has announced plans to release a broad selection of films in 4K Ultra HD, the home entertainment industry's next-generation physical viewing format making its move in the video market. UPHE will begin a rollout of its growing roster of movie titles around the world beginning this summer, showcasing a mix of new releases, including some of this year's most-anticipated blockbusters The Huntsman: Winter's War, Warcraft and Jason Bourne as well as recent hits, such as Everest, Lucy and Lone Survivor, among others. Other 4K Ultra HD offerings in the pipeline will include a selection of IMAX spectacular cinematic films.

With roughly 100 titles across the industry expected to be available on store shelves to consumers by the end of 2016, UPHE plans to make its titles available in both 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD digital formats. All of the designated offerings will feature a combination of 4K resolution and the color brilliance of High Dynamic Range, with many additionally including multi-dimensional sound for the ultimate immersive audio experience.

"Map to the Stars" Finds it Way to Home Entertainment

Director David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises, A History of Violence) returns with a provocative satire about the Hollywood film industry and the demons of celebrity obsession in the Focus World release Maps to the Stars,  on Blu-ray with Digital HD and DVD on April 14, 2015 for retail sales and on May 12 per Uni public library holdback policy for libraries from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Academy Award winner Julianne Moore (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) stars with Mia Wasikowska (The Kids Are All Right), Olivia Williams (Hyde Park on Hudson), John Cusack (Being John Malkovich), and Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga) in this unforgettable darkly comic thriller written by Bruce Wagner (I'm Losing You). Hollywood actress Havana Segrand (Moore) is unraveling as her career flounders. Her self-help psychotherapist (Cusack) and his wife (Williams) are busy managing the career of their child-star son. But when a mysterious young woman named Agatha (Wasikowska) befriends a limo driver and aspiring actor (Pattinson) all their lives get together, and nothing will ever be the same as they try to survive in a world of money, fame, ambition, envy, ghosts, and vice.

Ballet 422 Dances It's Way On To DVD & Blu-ray on May 26

When 25-year-old NYCB dancer Justin Peck begins to emerge as a promising young choreographer, he is commissioned to create a new ballet for the Company’s 2013 Winter Season.

PADDINGTON Hits Home Entertainment on April 28

Everyone’s favorite marmalade-loving little bear is ready to make a splash onto home screens when Anchor Bay Entertainment and TWC-Dimension release the critically acclaimed, heart-warming family film PADDINGTON on Blu-ray and DVD April 28, 2015. PADDINGTON.

Paddington Bear was first introduced to children in Michael Bond’s 1958 book, A Bear Called Paddington and the subsequent Paddington Bear series has sold over 35 million copies and been translated into 40 languages. For the first time, author Michael Bond has given his blessing for his beloved characters to be brought to the big screen, charming both critics and audience members alike. 

From writer-director Paul King and producer David Heyman, the film features a stellar cast with Emmy nominee Hugh Bonneville (TV’s “Downton Abbey”), Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine), Oscar nominee Julie Walters (Billy Elliot, Educating Rita), Oscar winner Jim Broadbent (Iris), Peter Capaldi (TV’s “Doctor Who,” “The Musketeers) with Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours), and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) as the voice of Paddington. The Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh film is “stuffed with family fun,” according to the Los Angeles Times, and has earned over $228 million worldwide at the box office to date.
