Unbroken Announced for DVD / Blu-ray Release

Unbroken follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini who survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash during World War II—only to be caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a series of prisoner-of-war camps.  The inspirational biopic is coming to libraries on Blu-ray and DVD for patron loans on April 21, 2015 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Legendary Pictures. "Shakespeare Uncovered, Series 2" on DVD in February

PBS Distribution announced plans to release “SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED, SERIES 2” on DVD in February. Like the first series, the second installment of “Shakespeare Uncovered” combines history, biography, iconic performances, new analysis, and the personal passions of its celebrated hosts; Hugh Bonneville, Kim Cattrall, Joseph Fiennes, Morgan Freeman, David Harewood, and Christopher Plummer,  to tell the stories behind the stories of Shakespeare’s greatest plays.

“SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED, SERIES 2” will be available on DVD February 3, 2015. The DVD has a run time of approximately 360 minutes on 2 discs and an SRP of $34.99.

CNN's "THE SIXTIES" to DVD in February via PBS Distribution

PBS Distribution announced today it will be releasing “THE SIXTIES” on DVD. Executive produced by Emmy Award-winning producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman (HBO’s “John Adams” and “The Pacific”), and Emmy Award-winning producer Mark Herzog (History’s “Gettysburg”), “THE SIXTIES” explores the most turbulent decade of the modern era in America.  "The Sixties premiered on CNN in May 2014 and ran through August.

The Hunger Games : Mockingjay - Part 1 Announced for March DVD / Blu-Ray Release

The global film juggernaut The Hunger Games franchise continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 as it arrives on Blu-Ray Combo Pack, DVD (plus Digital) on March 6.

St Vincent Announced for February Home Entertainment Release

Anchor Bay Entertainment and The Weinstein Company have announced the home entertainment release of Ted Melfi’s directorial and screenwriting debut, ST. VINCENT. The “charmingly warm and heartfelt” (Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times) comedy features an all-star cast that includes Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts, Chris O’Dowd, Terrence Howard, and introducing Jaeden Lieberher.

The highly praised and popular film has garnered numerous accolades including a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy; alongside a nomination for Bill Murray, Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. 2015 Oscar Nominations Announced

On February 22 we’ll learn who the big winners and losers of the 2015 Oscars race are. But first, we need to know which stars, filmmakers and films are in the running for the competition — and today, we have our answer.

Nominations for the 87th Academy Awards were announced this morning by “Star Trek” star Chris Pine, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams, and Oscar-winning “Gravity” director Alfonso Cuarón and as always, there were some expected results, and some serious snubs and surprises.   Meryl Streep extended her record with her 19th Oscar nomination for her Supporting Actress work in the musical Into the Woods. Robert Duvall, who turned 84 years old last week, was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in The Judge. It’s his seventh career nomination, and he surpasses Hal Holbrook (Into the Wild) as the oldest male acting nominee in Oscar history. (Emmanuelle Riva was 85 when she was nominated for Amour.)

“Birdman” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” lead the pack with nine nominations each, with “The Imitation Game” is close behind with eight nominations. Both “American Sniper” and “Boyhood” received six nominations, with “Interstellar”, “The Theory of Everything” and “Whiplash” ringing up five nominations each.

"The Theory of Everything" Named Best Picture in AARP's 2014 Movies for Grownups

The Theory of Everything, the biographical romantic drama depicting the physical and emotional journey of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, has earned the 2014 Movies for Grownups Best Picture award from the editors of AARP The Magazine. Celebrating 2014's standout filmmakers, actors, actresses and movies that bear unique relevance for the 50+ audience, AARP today announced the official winners of its 14^th Annual Movies for Grownups Awards.

Top honors go to Julianne Moore as "Best Actress" for her heartbreaking portrayal of a woman's battle with early onset Alzheimer's in Still Alice, and to Steve Carell as "Best Actor" for his chilling depiction as wannabe wrestling coach John E. du Pont in Foxcatcher. Dinosaur 13 Out Now on DVD & Blu-Ray

PBS DISTRIBUTION ACQUIRES DVD RIGHTS TO EMMY AWARD-WINNING CHILDREN’S PROGRAM WORDWORLD

PBS Distribution, the leading media distributor for the public television community, both domestically and internationally, announced the acquisition of all three seasons of the multi-award-WordWorld kids program.  The deal includes DVD rights for all 84 adventures of WordWorld.  PBS Distribution, which works with leading producers to distribute series such as Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Dinosaur Train, Peg + Cat, Arthur, Wild Kratts, and Caillou, is planning on releasing its first WordWorld DVD in 2015. 

WordWorld, which won the 2009 Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding children’s animated program, is designed to introduce, support, and foster literacy skills in children ages three to five. Young children are introduced to the colorful, vibrant world of words with the lovable, legible WordFriends – animals whose bodies are made up of the letters that spell the word they represent. Rosewater to Release on DVD/ Blu-Ray

A journalist in Iran endures an unthinkable ordeal when he is falsely accused of spying in Rosewater, a political thriller coming to Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD on March 24, 2015 for lending to library patrons, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Criterion Announces March Releases

In March 2015, Criterion will highlight some of the most important nonfiction films ever made,

Epic Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog music division of Sony Music Entertainment, will KANSAS - Miracles Out of Nowhere, a DVD/CD package celebrating one of the most popular American bands of the 1970s. The package will include a new, full-length, documentary film and a companion audio disc of greatest hits, deep album cuts, and more, in March 2015.

2014 marked the 40th anniversary of the release of KANSAS, the band's debut album. To commemorate the occasion, the classic KANSAS lineup reunited, for the first time in more than 30 years; at the place their incredible journey began, Topeka, Kansas! There, they relived the incredible untold story of one of the most successful American rock bands of their era.  Returning to monumental career landmarks in their hometown, as well as sharing untold memories ranging from touring to songwriting and recording, the band shares how the smash hit "Dust in the Wind" was just a passing comment away from never being recorded!  Viewers will hear the band tell stories about recording in the studio next to John Lennon, a backstage fight with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, and how the words "free beer" changed their lives forever! Miracles Out of Nowhere presents KANSAS in a way they have never before been seen.

Directed by Emmy-nominated Charley Randazzo, the documentary features interviews from legendary Queen guitarist and former tourmate Brian May, acclaimed producer Brendan O'Brien, Rolling Stone journalist David Wild, and more. Featured prominently is country icon Garth Brooks, who counts KANSAS, alongside The Beatles and the Eagles, as one of his greatest inspirations. These extraordinary new insights are coupled with rare and unseen footage, including live performances and candid, fan-shot footage of the band on the road.  Miracles Out of Nowhere offers an unprecedented look at the incredible ascent of KANSAS, a story that will appeal to new fans and veteran enthusiasts alike.
