First Run Features has obtained the rights to Garrett Zevgetis’ documentary Best and Most Beautiful Things, a coming-of-age story that celebrates outcasts of the world. First Run is planning a December theatrical release for the film, which is produced by Zevgetis, Ariana Garfinkel, Jeff Consiglio and Jordan Salvatoriello and a January DVD release. The documentary premiered at SXSW in March and has had a successful festival run across the country.
Best and Most Beautiful Thing follows Michelle, a precocious 20 year old blind woman who disappears into her quirky obsessions and isolation. She’s excited about getting a job, but then is fired resulting in her spending the next year in her bedroom. With humor and bold curiosity, she chases love and freedom in the most unexpected of places: namely, a provocative, sex-positive fringe community. “I want to experience all aspects of life,” Michelle says. “I want to live on my own.”
