After a ground breaking, musical genre creating three year run with Buffalo Springfield, Richie stepped away to form and lead the seminal country rock band, POCO. Along with Rusty Young, Jimmy Messina and future Eagle, Randy Meissner, Poco's first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces established the standard for other Country Rock acts to follow, including The Eagles. Poco went on to record many more albums, six records with Richie, before he, at the urging of Geffen Records president and talent manager, David Geffen, joined together with Chris Hillman and JD Souther to form the Souther, Hillman and Furay Band. They recorded two albums, the first went Gold and produced a Top 20 Single.
Mr Furay has written and sung some of Americana's biggest songs, including Buffalo Sprinfield's Kind Woman, Sad Memory, Poco's Pickin' Up the Pieces, C'mon and Good Feelin' to Know as well as SHF's Fallin' in Love.
After he left SHF, Furay went on a spiritual journe which led him, in 1983, to become senior pastor of the Calvary Chapel in Broomfield, CO, a non-sectarian Christian church near Denver.
And with his new, Hand in Hand album (releasing on March 17 via eOne Records) Richie's back to Americana roots. He was just inducted, as part of Poco, into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame and brings us a twelve track CD that features his new single, We Were the Dreamers, which takes us back to his Poco days.
